Community
Skills for the future: Our target was to help 2,007 people by 2007 – which we have exceeded! We estimate that in 2006 we helped approximately 5,500 people. Examples include:
- Rotherham Rugby Club: Capgemini UK provided funding, business experience and our time to support Rotherham Rugby Club’s community programme which focuses on sport, health and learning. Our support has helped them provide programmes for almost 3000 children a year.
- Telford FC: In 2006 we were awarded the Chamber of Commerce Shropshire Star Business Award for ‘Best Business in the Community’. The award recognises our long term relationship with AFC Telford United as well as with the local council, local charities and the people who live around Telford. We have helped approximately 2000 people in the area and have raised over £20,000 for local charities.
- Prince’s Trust Network: In 2006, 120 employees raised £137,000 which has helped approximately 185 people. For 2007, 78 employees are aiming to raise £250,000 for the Prince’s Trust challenge. Our involvement also includes a network of personal and business mentors and pro bono work directly for the Trust.
- Time to Read: Our volunteers have helped 54 primary school children
- Banda Aceh, Indonesia: We have raised £117,000 to rebuild a primary school which was destroyed by the Tsunami of December 2004, helping 42 children as well as the wider community.
Environment
- Energy: All of the energy which we buy is ‘green’ generated from renewable resources, thereby minimising our carbon footprint in this respect.
- Paper: Our paper in all offices for printing and copying is 80% recycled content, and our washroom products are 70-100% recycled content.
- I.T. figures: Our desktop I.T. asset disposal approach ensures that we maximise the usefulness of our end of life assets, through sale, donation and recycling. Currently 46% of those assets are donated to sustainable and well managed community projects overseas.
Marketplace
- OTACE: We aim to deliver our services On Time and Above Client Expectation. ‘OTACE’ is the name of our client satisfaction process. At the end of 2007, looking at the latest formal OTACE assessments received for Capgemini UK engagements that were active during the year, 95.2% were rated by our clients as Meeting or Exceeding their expectations.
